Break down your rotations and defense one by one so your time fully understands how and why
we do what we do in every scenario that could possibly happen in a volleyball game!

Notice in base that our L (libero) is behind the setter. This creates the maximum space between our 2 primary defenders (OH1 left back and L middle back). It forces the other team to beat you in the middle of the court, so both players are reading in the same direction.

It also allows for easy free ball transition because the back row already has the back half of the court covered evenly,
the setter can release straight forward, and the hitters release straight back to cover the first half of the court.

Anytime our team is serving, we want to rotate around our middle front and middle back. This allows everyone to get ready fast, and puts biggest blocker who has to move the most in the center of the court.

In serve receive we always want to make the job the easiest for our setter. If our setter is still trying to get to where they need to be to efficiently run the offense, they are not yet ready to react to a pass.
